Sarahy’s Scoop: NCAA Week 6 and 7

Sarahy’s Scoop: NCAA Week 6 and 7

By Sarahy Mora

No Notes!

This week we’re letting the routines speak for themselves. Let’s take a look at my top five routines from Weeks 6 and 7.

5. Nebraska’s Alex Nitache – Floor

Nebraska’s Alex Nitache took the floor title with a 13.850 against Greenville, Simpson, and William & Mary. He closed the routine with a stuck final pass to secure the stick bonus.

4. Oklahoma’s Addison Fatta – Vault (10.0)

High amplitude and a cold stick. In a lineup where the Sooners were not giving away landings, Addison Fatta had the vault that went perfect.

3. LSU’s Kailin Chio – Bars

I was waiting for the number to go up on this one. The handstands were there, the Khorkina release continues to be a highlight, and the dismount did not give away a single deduction. Kailin Chio eventually got the 10.0 on floor, but in my opinion this should have been the 10 of the night.

2. Utah’s Avery Neff – Bars (10.0)

Avery Neff keeps adding to her season. After opening the year with the first vault 10.0 in Week 2, she now has the first 10.0 on bars and sits at No. 5 in the national All-Around.

1. Florida’s Selena Harris-Miranda – Beam

Light, airy, and seamless. No notes here — this routine is pure artistry.

Coming soon to Inside Gymnastics:

I sat down with Michigan head coach Maile’ana Kanewa-Hermelyn to talk about her first year leading the program, and it was one of the most memorable interviews I’ve had. Her enthusiasm for her athletes, her approach to leadership and the culture she is building at Michigan are things you can feel immediately, and it made me even more excited to tell her story.

Sarahy Mora Rincon is a Communications and Media Arts & Design double major at James Madison University. The Richmond, Virginia native serves as president of JMU Club Gymnastics, where she helps lead the team and support its events, outreach, and involvement in the collegiate club gymnastics community.
