NCAA MEN’S GYMNASTICS: Recruiting Roundup!

Now that you’ve met many of the freshmen slated to compete during the 2025-26 Men’s NCAA Gymnastics season (see that series here on InsideGym.com), we’re excited to launch a look at the Class of 2026 – NLI Signings for each program!

In this new Inside Gymnastics series in partnership with the Men’s College Gymnastics Association (CGA), we asked each head coach about who’s graduating, who’s coming up, what they look for in their recruits, where each Class of 2026 NLI signee could potentially contribute to the lineup, and what makes their program unique. You’ll see what they had to say right here on InsideGym.com!

We’ll also add updates here and across our social media platforms as the season progresses, should anything change. Plus! Stay tuned right here for Men’s NCAA Coverage throughout the season, and be on the lookout for our upgraded Routine Of The Week segment and more @InsideGym once the season gets rolling.

Up next, Greenville! The Greenville men’s gymnastics team had eight Panthers qualify for the 2025 NCAA Championships in Ann Arbor, with three of them making it to the finals. Matthew Roth, Ricky Mays, and Donovan Diviney all qualified for the event finals with their outstanding performances in session one.

We asked Greenville head coach Zach Peters…

Who will we graduate in 2026:

We have five that we are for sure graduating, that being: Donovan Diviney, Jacob Foster, Michael Avery, Ricky Mays, and Ethan Poole. We have five that have the OPTION to take a fifth year but may not. Those five are: Elijah Cruz, Koby Cantu, Zach Connelly, Major Bain, and Ryan Barela.

Class of 2026 – NLI Signings/ What each athlete will bring to the program:

Roman Alfaro, Carson Higley, Mason Heath, Ashwin Kapoor, Oliver Collins, Carter Shinn, Max Lozinak, Kai Prater, Henry Neer, Misha Cassidy, Bizi Osborn, Mason Steffens, Brycen Peck

I am working on creating as many opportunities as possible for the NCAA route as we have such few programs. Bringing in so many gymnasts is exciting for us to give them this opportunity, but because we believe it will push our program to be the best it could possibly be! I have no doubt that with so many guys in the gym it will push everyone to be the best they can be.

Top traits we look for beyond gymnastics skills:

When we are recruiting athletes, we care about two main things outside of the gymnastic piece. The first is if they genuinely feel excited about the chance of being on our team. If there is not much interest from their perspective then we do not want them here and would rather not waste either parties time. The second is seeing if they are coachable. While that can seem hard on the surface, we try to really dig deep and get to know them to see if they can be receptive to coaching. Regardless of talent, we believe that if someone can come in and do exactly what we ask them to do both in and out of the gym, they will be chasing excellence here and will have an amazing four years.

What makes Greenville stand out as a program:

While we go into our fourth year, I can’t quite say we are a “new” program anymore. What I can say is that if you look at how far we have come as a program since year one, you can see that something special is tangibly happening. These men work their butts off and have struggled through the ins and outs of a new program, but have still managed to improve so much and accomplish some great things both in and out of the gym! More importantly, we DO NOT care about winning. We are pushing for EXCELLENCE in all that we do and making sure are athletes are pushed to be the best people possible before they leave this school. I still believe that by pushing excellence, some “accomplishments” will happen, but life is so much bigger then College Men’s Gymnastics. What we do here is to make an impact on their souls and drive them to be the best they can be in ALL aspects of their life!
