- Field Set for Secret U.S. Classic. Nine current and former World Championships gold medalists are expected to compete in the 2012 Secret U.S. Classic in Chicago. Returning to the competition stage for the first time since the 2009 Visa Championships is 2008 Olympic All-Around champ Nastia Liukin. What are your predictions for Nastia’s return in hopes of making the 2012 Olympic Team??
- First Lady Gets Kids Active. Earlier this week, first lady Michelle Obama joined U.S. Olympians, Paralympians and London hopefuls to announce a nationwide commitment to get more than 1.7 million American children active as part of her Let's Move! initiative to solve the problem of childhood obesity in a generation. USA Gymnastics will challenge its local member clubs to host introductory clinics and events for National Gymnastics Day on September 22, 2012. Did anyone’s team do anything fun for National Gymnastics Day last year? If so, post it on our Facebook page!
- Senior Men Prepare for Visas. The lineup for the senior men’s competition of this year’s Visa Championships, which will be held June 7-10, has been set. The entire 2011 World Championships team, along with five members of the 2011 Pan American Games team will compete in hopes of earning national titles and spots on the U.S. National Team. Following Visa Championships will be the U.S. Olympic Trials, set for June 28-July 1 in San Jose, California.
- J.O. Champions Named. Donnell Whittenburg of Baltimore Md./Ultimate Gymnastics and Marvin Kimble of Milwaukee, Wis./Swiss Turners won the Level 10 All-Around titles at the 2012 Men's Junior Olympic National Championships. Whittenburg was the champion in the 16-18 age group while Kimble won in the 14-15 age group. Congratulations to everyone on another successful club competition season in the books!
