In Their Opening Statements:

University of Florida- Rhonda Faehn- “We’re excited to return to the Gwinnett Arena where we captured our SEC Championship.” “I thank the SEC for the purchase of the podium for the conference champion that allowed us to prepare even better for the NCAA Championships.”

Ohio State University- Carey Fagan: “We’re coming in with the intent to qualify to the Super Six.”

University of Georgia- Jay Clark: "We’re very pleased with how we’ve competed all season, with a level of consistency...” “Our team has got a lot of energy and focus right now.” “We really feel like if we get on a roll, that maybe we can create a little magic and make some noise this year.”

University of Alabama- Sarah Patterson: “It never gets old qualifying to the NCAA Championships.” “I was thrilled to leave Seattle knowing that we’re returning to the NCAA Championships even more so than the first time we qualified.”

Oregon State University- Tanya Chaplin: “Our Senior class has anchored our team all year. Our focus is to continue to build with each performance and break into the Super Six.” “We don’t have the depth that we’ve had this last year, but we’ve got a lot of heart and a lot of fight.

University of Arkansas- Rene Cook: “Unfortunately for us, we had our worst meet of the season [at SECs], so it’s great to have a do-over so to speak, which doesn’t usually happen in this sport.”

Notable:

Sarah Patterson on her thoughts about the teams at the championships: “This is the type of championship where no one can make mistakes and count them.” “1 through 12…this is what this championship is all about.” “On any given night, any team can win and advance.”

Jay Clark on the SEC schools at the NCAA championships: “As much as we can be, we’re fairly friendly.”
