THIS WEEK’S INSIDE BUZZ: FRIDAY 5!

Insiders, join us for our new Inside Buzz: Friday 5 weekly highlights! Every Friday at 10 a.m. sharp we will highlight our top 5 gymnastics moments of the week! Let’s see who made the cut this week!

1. All Eyes On Brooks. A big congratulations goes out to Chris Brooks, who was been named the Male Athlete of the Month for March, the U.S. Olympic Committee announced this week. Jordyn Wieber was in the runnings for the women's award, but she was beaten by skier Lindsey Vonn. Be sure to keep your eyes on Chris during these next couple months heading for London!
2. Everything’s Bigger in Texas. The Inside Team got to travel to Plano, Texas, this week and stop by WOGA Gymnastics to catch up with 2008 Olympic Champion Nastia Liukin. We love seeing the huge Inside Gymnastics covers on the walls of the gym, and it was great catching up with Nastia & Valeri. Look for Nastia on the competition floor of the upcoming US Classic!
3. Getting Sponsored. GK announed this week that Aly Raisman joined their list of endorsed athletes. Aly will sport GK gymnastics apparel at events, be featured in GK catalogs, and will promote GK across social media and advertising campaigns. Aly tweeted this week about her excitement for designing her own leotards.
4. Back in the Saddle. Jonathan Horton tweeted this week about returning to vault for the first time in six months. He said he, “Ran full speed with very little pain and was super pumped with my progress.” We can’t wait to see him back out there at 100%!
5. Collegiate Corner. The anticipation continues to build as the 2012 NCAA Championships loom closer. Preliminary draws were finalized this week, and from the looks of it, we’re excited there are sure to be some intense battles in prelims just to qualify to Super Six! After some impressive Regional performances, it’s time to shift the focus to perfecting every routine. Inside Gymnastics will be on the scene in Duluth, GA—bringing you all the hottest news from the 2012 Championships! Stay tuned, you won’t want to miss it!
