Karl Frei Passed Away

LAUSANNE (SUI): The Swiss Gymnastics Federation informs that the gymnast Karl Frei, 94 years old, passed away on June 18. He was the oldest living Swiss Olympic Champion.

In 1948, at the London Olympic Games, Karl Frei was awarded the Gold medal on Rings, the best achievement of his career.

He was a member of the famous Swiss Dream Team after the world war years, together with Walter Lehmann, Josef Stalder, Christian Kipfer Michael Reusch. Karl Frei was also one of most serious opponents of international champions like Paavao Altonen from Finland, or Guido Figone from Italy.
