The Men’s Program Committee for USA Gymnastics uses a point
ranking system to determine the U.S. National
Team and also to determine who
advances from the U.S. Championships to the Olympic Trials. Athletes receive
points based on their individual event placement on nights 1 and 2 or Nationals
as well as their final combined All-Around placement. For those events and in
the All-around, points are awarded to the top ten finishers. So how are the men
stacking up at this point? Here’s a look at the ranking based on night 1. Note
that these were points awarded based on individual event rankings night 1 (no
All-Around points will be awarded until the conclusion of both days of
competition).
